Examples and lessons learned from the Municipality of Amsterdam

Abstract:

There are many applications of Computer Science and Data Sciences. In this talk, applications to solve problems related to managing the needs of the Municipality of Amsterdam will be presented.

Speaker biography:

He has a Master's Degree in Natural Resource Management from the Open University of London and completed his Master's thesis at the Agustín Codazzi Geographical Institute, Bogotá Colombia. During her studies she specialized in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in Remote Sensing. She worked 6 years in Ecuador, from 1996 to 2003. 4.5 years for the National Polytechnic School (EPN), Faculty of Systems Engineering, as part of an international development cooperation program Flemish (Belgium) VVOB. During this period, one of the outstanding projects she worked on was “Slopes of Pichincha”, to reduce the environmental impact and risks in the event of a volcanic outbreak from the Pichincha volcano. Returning to his home country, the Netherlands, he started working at the Municipality of Amsterdam in different roles and positions, but always linked to (geographical) information management and (spatial) urban planning. At the moment, his focus is on data, smart mobility and sustainability. Through his partner, family, and friends, he maintains a warm relationship with Ecuador and its people.
