Conference theme:

Artificial Intelligence and Web Accessibility: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Prospects

Abstract:

Artificial intelligence (AI) is redefining the methods and processes associated with web accessibility, providing innovative solutions ranging from automatic barrier detection and the generation of content descriptions to the dynamic customization of interfaces based on user needs. These technologies offer significant potential to streamline assessments, optimize compliance with WCAG guidelines, and promote the inclusion of people with different types of disabilities. However, the integration of AI in this field also poses significant challenges: the limited accuracy of algorithms in complex contexts, the contextual interpretation of WCAG guidelines, the risk of biases that perpetuate inequalities, the opacity of models, and the need for expert oversight to avoid bias and errors. This presentation will explore use cases, technical limitations, and ethical considerations.
